Decatur Illinois Pride
This is where our journey begins. Get to know our Board of Directors and the fabulous volunteers that support our LGBTQIA youth.

Where We Began
On June 14, 2018, Mayor Julie Moore Wolfe signed a proclamation declaring June as Pride Month in Decatur, IL. Anthony Bond, a then-student of Millikin University, initiated this after discovering the LGBTQIA+ community was not fully represented or recognized in the area.
Several community members decided we needed to become more
open. They got together and planned the first Decatur PrideFest, hosted in
Central Park in downtown Decatur, IL. At that time, no official organization
was representing the LGBTQIA+ community in Macon County. Those
individuals concluded that we needed to come together to support members of our community locally. Shortly after the Decatur PrideFest on
June 24, 2018, they organized Decatur IL Pride as a 501(c)(3) organization.
